Organizational Structure:
The council organizational structure is based on the powers and functions of the Council and consists of (1) the Secretary General and its units; (2) Administration of Registration & Classification, (3) Administration of Academic & Professional Affairs & (4) Administration of Finance & Human Resources

1- The Secretary General and Its Units:
The Secretary General is the administrative and the executive authority of the council and is responsible about administering the General Secretariat for developing the council and fulfilling the Powers and Functions of the Council and its Duties are detailed in the Article 11 (Chapter 2) of the NGC Act for 2015. The Secretary General affiliated units include:
(1) Secretary General Office, (2) Legal Counsel, (3) Internal Audit Unit, (4) Training & Capacity Building Unit, (5) Administrative Development & Quality Unit, (6) Computerization & IT Unit and (7) External Affair Unit

2- Administration of Registration and Classification:
The main function of this Administration is to fulfill the main function of establishing the Council for:
(1) Registration in the records and the granting of titles to the Sudanese geologists and non-Sudanese geologist working in Sudan so as to enable them to practice the profession and work performance among the members of the geological team in perfect harmony and healthy atmosphere
(2) Prepare and publish the registers of geologists every five years
(3) Register certificate of the postgraduate geological qualification obtained by any registered geologist requiring that its university is recognized by the Council.

Administration of Academic & Professional Affairs
It includes the following; (1) Department of Professional Inspection, (2) Department of Professional Development and (3) Department of State Affairs and its main function is execution of the Academic & Professional work and plan set by the corresponding Academic Committees and Professional & Dispute Committee, which include:
(1) Recognition of academic programs in geological education institutions such as colleges, departments and technical institutes in accordance with international standards.
(2) Coordinate closely with the academic committees in the geological education institutions and work to strengthen their role and develop programs and mechanisms for coordination among them to enable them to achieve their objectives in full.
(3) The suggest and apply methodologies to develop and implement general frameworks and programs to protect the public against unsafe, immoral or inappropriate practices, as well as to monitor the performance of practitioners of the geology profession in Sudan in order to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations in the relevant sectors of geological work.
(4) To establish and keep a record of all academic institutions recognized by the Council at the commencement of the effectiveness of this Act and add to that record every academic institution recognized by the Council.

Administration of Financial and Human Resources
The administration comprises three departments: Finance, Human Resources and Services as follows:
(1) The Finance Department is responsible for all financial matters, ensuring that all financial transactions are in accordance with the Organization’s Financial Regulations, Financial Rules and Procedures. It draws up the budget of the Secretariat and maintains the book of accounts.
(2) The Human Resources Department develops and applies effective human resources management policies to enable the Secretariat to efficiently carry out its functions with competent and motivated staff.
(3) The Service Department provides general services and helping to promote working environment for employee and to provide comprehensive guidance and services that will equip the geologists dealing with council to perform and finish their processes smoothly.
